Paul Dion is the winningest coach in Skidmore Ice Hockey and Women's Soccer history with a combined 376 wins. As head coach of the ice hockey team from 1982 to 2005, Dion grew the program from a club sport to a top contender in the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Association South and then ECAA East - winning 213games overall. Dion's Thoroughbred hockey teams played in 15 ECAC post-season tournaments, won four consecutive ECAC South regular season titles, and produced five league MVP players. Dion was named ECAC East Coach of the Year in 2003.

As head women's soccer coach for 18 seasons, he achieved a 163-127-24 record, guiding the Thoroughbreds to 11 postseason tournaments, including the program's first two National Collegiate Athletic Association appearances in 1994 and 1996. His 1994 team finished 14-2-3 and was ranked third nationally. He did all this while simultaneously serving as assistant baseball coach as well as equipment and building manager. "Paul was the quintessential team player," recalls former Athletic Director Tim Brown. "There was never a job too big or too small for him to take on -and he did them all exceptionally well."
