Gary Rosenberg '87 graduated as the all-time leading scorer for Men's Lacrosse, with 102 goals and 57 assists for159 points in 37 career games. He was the program's first 100-goal career scorer and continues to rank among Skidmore's top scorers, now ranking eighth in overall scoring, sixth in goals, and first in points per game (4.30).

Having opted not to play with the Thoroughbreds his freshman year, Rosenberg is grateful to Coach Mike Garcia, he says, for "chasing me down after an intramural championship football game in fall 1984 and convincing me to join the lacrosse team.

In his three-year career, Rosenberg took home MVP honors twice (1985, 1986) and won the distinction of Most Outstanding Player in 1987. As a junior, he ranked nationally for goals scored (45) and total points (70), the latter standing as a Skidmore season record for 14 years. He was also honored that season (1986) as the Cox Conference Player of the Year.

Playing lacrosse at the NCAA level was a highlight of his college experience, Rosenberg says. As a co-captain, he learned "valuable life lessons about organization, leadership, and responsibility," and the "camaraderie, trust, respect, and commitment" shared with teammates left a lasting impression. His "crowning achievement," he adds, was being honored with Skidmore's Senior Athlete Award in 1987.
