An exceptionally skilled player and team leader, Brian Forman '90 helped pave the way for Skidmore Basketball's entry into national competitive play and achieve milestone victories that elevated the program to a new level of recognition. The two-year team captain led the men from just two wins in 1987 to a program varsity record 14 wins and creditability as a National Collegiate Athletic Association Division III member in 1990.

Forman was the team's scoring leader in his sophomore and senior years. As a senior, he became the program's third 1000-point career scorer when he scored 21 points in the team's first-ever win over Amherst College. In the Capital District Tournament, he scored 22 points to lead the team to its first win over the University at Albany, 71-65. The following night, Forman delivered a then school-record 38 points in a close championship game loss to Rensselaer.

The Thoroughbreds avenged the RPI loss later in the season when Forman registered a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds. His outstanding achievements on and off the court were recognized when he received the program's first College Sports Information Directors of America Academic All-America Award in 1990. He continues to rank among Skidmore career leaders in points (6th/1275 points) and rebounds (13th/459).
