    Team of Distinction

Drawing on a rare combination of brotherhood, raw talent, and sheer grit, this team achieved the most dramatic reversal in program history. With the guidance of new head coach Ron Plourde, the men transformed Thoroughbred Baseball from perennial underachiever to Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association Conference champion, laying the foundation for today's nationally competitive program.

This dynamic team not only delivered Skidmore's first UCAA Championship title by trouncing the University of Rochester, they also defeated arch-rival and leading NCAA Division III contender RPI for the first time in Thoroughbred history. In just one year, the Thoroughbreds literally "flipped" a 3-9 conference record with 25 losses in 1998 to 9-3 with 18 wins and a championship title.
