Skidmore College’s Office of Athletics Communications supports and publicizes, on both a national and international level, each of Skidmore’s 19 intercollegiate varsity teams that compete in the NCAA Division III level as a member of the Liberty League, the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC), and the Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association (IHSA), The primary responsibility of Athletics Communications is to disseminate information to the members of both the print and digital media as well as institutions that Skidmore competes against. Among Athletics Communications’ many varied duties are press/media relations, editorial relations, editorial releases and feature stories, game and special event programs, newsletters, statistical maintenance and record keeping, web content management, social media, and collaborative work with Skidmore’s Office of Communications and Marketing.

SKIDMORE COLLEGE ATHLETIC COMMUNICATIONS POLICIES:
Media Credentials
Media credentials are required for all Skidmore athletic events. Requests must be submitted at least 24 hours in advance to the Athletic Communications Office and are issued at the discretion of the office. Credentials are limited to working media representatives with a specific assignment and are non-transferable. Valid photo identification is required for pickup, and credentials must be visible at all times while on-site. No credentials will be issued to individuals under the age of 18.
Photography and Videography
Only credentialed photographers and videographers with a clear professional assignment may access field-level or courtside areas. They must remain outside team areas and maintain a 10-foot buffer from the playing surface. Credentials do not allow access to team benches. Photos and videos may not be sold or used commercially without written approval from the Athletic Communications Office and, when applicable, the student-athlete.
Interviews
All interview requests with coaches or student-athletes must be coordinated through the Athletic Communications Office with at least 24 hours’ notice. No interviews will be granted on game days outside of approved postgame availability. Contact information for student-athletes will not be shared.
Broadcasting
Radio and television broadcasters must request credentials at least one week in advance. Access to broadcast areas, phone lines, and internet connections is limited and must be arranged in advance through the Athletic Communications Office.
Practice Access
Practices are closed to media unless prior approval is granted by the Athletic Communications Office at least 24 hours in advance.
Statistical Services
Official game notes, programs, and statistics will be provided to credentialed media before and after each event. Complete stat packages will be available following the game upon request.
Sideline Conduct
Field-level access is restricted to essential personnel. All credentialed media must follow NCAA and institutional safety protocols, including sideline clearance and team area restrictions. Violations may result in revocation of credentials and removal from the venue.
Branding and Visual Assets
Use of Skidmore Athletics logos, photos, and branding must be approved by the Athletic Communications Office. Any merchandise, advertisements, or promotional materials using these assets require prior authorization.
