Skidmore to face Yeshiva in NCAA First Round

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – For the second straight year, the Skidmore College women's tennis team is headed to Middlebury, Vt. for the first round of the Division III NCAA Championship Tournament on Thursday, May 12. Skidmore, the eight-time defending Liberty League Champions, will take on Yeshiva University, the Skyline Conference Champions.
 
Skidmore (15-5) and Yeshiva (10-3) will meet on Thursday at the Proctor Tennis Courts, weather permitting. The winner of that matchup will face either Nichols (19-2) or Wilkes (15-3) on Friday in the second round. The winner of Friday's matchup will face either Geneseo (10-9), Penn State-Berks College (9-5), or host Middlebury (14-3) in Saturday's regional final.

The teams will play a single-elimination tournament with the first, second- and third- rounds played at regional sites, Friday-Sunday, May 11-13, or Thursday-Saturday, May 10-12. Claremont McKenna-Harvey Mudd Scripps Colleges will host the team championships finals, which will be held May 21-23 at Biszantz Tennis Center in Claremont, California.
 
The Thoroughbreds are in the NCAA Tournament for the 12th season in a row and the 22nd time overall. Skidmore, ranked 18th nationally, defeated Vassar 5-1 in the Liberty League Championship match on Sunday, earning the automatic bid. Skidmore is looking for its second-ever national title, after winning it all in 1998.
