SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY – The Skidmore College women's tennis team officially returns to action for the 2026–27 season by hosting the Thoroughbred Invitational this weekend at the McCaffery-Wagman Tennis and Wellness Center.
Saturday's session is scheduled to begin at 10 AM, followed by a 9 AM start on Sunday.
THE SCHEDULE AHEAD
Following its home-opening weekend, Skidmore will also host the ITA Regionals from Oct. 1–4, where sophomore Ginevra Muratori will look to defend the regional singles title that she captured last season. The Thoroughbreds will conclude the fall portion of their schedule at the New England Women's Intercollegiate Tennis Tournament in Northampton, Massachusetts, from Oct. 9–11.
Skidmore will begin its spring season and dual-match play by hosting Wellesley on Feb. 20 before opening Liberty League competition at home against Bard on Feb. 27. The Thoroughbreds will also host RPI, Vassar and St. Lawrence at the McCaffery-Wagman Tennis and Wellness Center in conference play.
LIBERTY LEAGUE TOURNAMENT
Cornell University's Reis Tennis Center in Ithaca will again host the Liberty League Championship, scheduled for May 7–9.
RETURNING T-BREDS
Skidmore returns seven student-athletes, headlined by reigning ITA Singles All-American and Liberty League Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year Ginevra Muratori.
NEWCOMER CLASS
The Thoroughbreds are set to debut four newcomers this weekend, with three first-years and one junior transfer joining the program.
PROGRAM HISTORY
Skidmore has made 27 NCAA Tournament appearances, won 20 Liberty League titles and captured the 1998 NCAA Division III Championship.
Most recently, Muratori and Amelie Gonzalez represented the Thoroughbreds at the 2026 NCAA Division III Doubles Championship, while Muratori also competed in the singles championship.
