SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY – The Skidmore College women's tennis team kicked off the 2026-27 season with a successful showing as host of the Thoroughbred Invitational this weekend at the McCaffery-Wagman Tennis and Wellness Center.

"Solid weekend overall. We wanted to get some high-level live matches under our belt, especially for our First Years, and that's exactly what we got. Everyone was put in a lot of different tough match situations and we competed very well in those situations.

"The level of play was very strong from all participating teams, which again, is exactly what we wanted. I think each player got stronger as the weekend went on, which is a very good sign at this point. We'll learn from all of these matches, wins and losses, and continue taking steps forward."

SATURDAY SINGLES RESULTS

• Sophomore Ginevra Muratori earned victories in both the eight-game pro-set format and the best-of-three format featuring a 10-point match tiebreak in place of the third set. Muratori also defeated Smith's Heidi Cambron 6-3, 5-7, 10-7 before taking down RPI's Guari Muliyil 8-3.
• First-year Nandini Chandra collected three singles victories. She defeated Swarthmore's Veronica Komorek 8-6, Smith's Emrich 7-5, 6-4 and RPI's Juliette Ceas 8-1.
• Sophomore Ellie Lake defeated Smith's Sabrina Wang 6-1, 6-1. Lake also held a 6-1 advantage over RPI's Victoria Sarabosing when their match concluded.
• Junior Samantha Jacobs defeated Swarthmore's Claire De Donder 8-6.
• Junior Maggie English earned a pair of victories, defeating Swarthmore's Lilliana Qian 8-3 and Smith's Sophia Dube 6-2, 6-1.
• Freshman Kendall Olivas defeated Smith's Lara Paunovic 6-2, 6-4.
• Senior Coco Prokop rallied for a three-set victory over Swarthmore's Komorek, winning 2-6, 7-6 (7-1), 10-3.
• Sophomore Mia Rosenberg defeated Swarthmore's Qian 6-1, 6-0.
• Senior Ruth Wilson earned an 8-4 victory over Smith's Dube.

SUNDAY DOUBLES RESULTS

• Competing in both the eight-game and six-game doubles formats, Muratori/Chandra defeated Swarthmore's Li/De Donder 8-3 before edging out Smith's Cambron/Emrich 7-6 (7-2).
• Lake/Prokop collected two victories, defeating Swarthmore's E. Strickler/Gupta 8-6 before taking down Smith's Hauser/Wang 6-4.
• Muratori and Lake also teamed up for a 6-1 victory over Swarthmore's Williams/Qian.
• Jacobs/Olivas edged Swarthmore's Williams/K. Strickler 8-7 (9-7).
• Wilson/Rosenberg defeated Smith's Dube/Wang 8-7 (7-5).
• Jacobs and Rosenberg also teamed up for a 6-2 victory over Smith's Paunovic/Dube.
