SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.—The Skidmore College women's tennis team advanced five singles players and two doubles teams on the first day of the ITA Division III Northeast Regional Championships played at Wenger Courts and the Saratoga YMCA.

Number one singles seed
Ada Wiggins moved into the third round with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Megan Brown of Union and a 6-2, 4-2 (retired) win against teammate
Jackie Ahn. Defending regional champion and six seed
Michelle Fuca came from behind to win her second round match 2-6, 6-0, 10-7 over Kate Shaffer of NYU.

Erica Meno beat Lia Petersen of St. Lawrence 6-2, 6-3 to advance to the third round.

Risa Fukushige and
Renee Karchere-Sun also moved to the round of 16. Fukushige defeated Andrea Giacobbo of The College of N.J. 6-1, 6-0 and Karchere-Sun beat Courtney Geiss of Vassar 6-7 (3), 7-5, 10-5.

In doubles, the second seed team of Wiggins and Fuca cruised into the quarterfinals with an 8-1 win over Natalia Pezzuco and Paige Webster of Union and an 8-0 win over Annika Pompitaksuk and Lauren Salzano of Geneseo.

Karchere-Sunn and
Brianna Greene beat Audrey Chor and Ajla Karabegovic of Hamilton 8-5 to secure their quarterfinal berth.
