WALTHAM, Mass. – The 20th-ranked Skidmore College women's tennis team wrapped up play at the Nor'easter Bowl, falling to No. 19 Brandeis 6-3 at the Rieger Tennis Courts Saturday afternoon.
Skidmore drops to 8-6 overall, while Brandeis improves to 14-3.
The Thoroughbreds started strong, winning two of the three doubles matches.
Brianna Greene and
Ada Wiggins won an 8-4 decision at second doubles, and the duo of
Jessica Ampel and
Alexa Goldberg picked up their second victory of the weekend with a narrow 8-6 victory at No. 3.
Brandeis came back, winning five of six matches in singles play to turn the tide.
Renee Karchere-Sun picked up Skidmore's lone victory, coming back after dropping the first set to defeat Brandeis' Sophia He 4-6, 6-3, 10-8 at No. 5.
Skidmore will return home for its final Liberty League contest of the regular season, hosting co-league leader Vassar at the Skidmore Tennis Courts Saturday at 1 p.m.
