SARATOGA SPRNGS, N.Y. – The Skidmore College women's tennis team returns to action this weekend, traveling to Wellesley College for a pair of matches in the Nor'easter Bowl on Friday and Saturday. The No. 20 Thoroughbreds face host No.33 Wellesley on Friday at 4 p.m. and wrap up the weekend against No. 18 Brandeis on Saturday at 11 a.m.
 
Skidmore, the 20th-ranked team in the latest Oracle/ITA Division III Collegiate Tennis Rankings, enters the weekend with a 7-5 record overall. The Thoroughbreds last played on April 2, defeating St. Lawrence 8-1 in Liberty League action.
 
Ada Wiggins leads the Thoroughbreds as the sixth-ranked singles player in the Northeast region. The rookie is 13-6, defeating two ranked singles players along the way. Michelle Fuca leads the team with 14 wins.
 
In doubles, the pair of Fuca and Madie Benn are currently the sixth-ranked tandem in the Northeast. They are 10-6 on the season and have won the last two matches against St. Lawrence and No. 11 Washington and Lee. The pair of Wiggins and Brianna Greene have been great in 2017, going 6-2 with victories over three ranked opponents in No. 14 Trinity, No. 3 Williams, and No. 34 NYU.
 
Wellesley, the 33rd-ranked team in the nation, comes into the weekend with a 13-6 record. The Blue finished second in their most recent tournament, falling to eventual champion Vassar in the Seven Sisters Tournament.
 
Justine Huang leads the Blue with a 16-2 record overall as a singles player. The doubles team of Carina Chen and Justine Huang is ranked 14th in the Northeast region, with a 7-6 record at first singles.
 
 
These teams last met in the 2012 Nor'easter Bowl. Skidmore earned third place with a 6-3 victory over then-No. 18 Wellesley on April 8.
 
Brandeis, the 18th-ranked team, enters the weekend with a 13-2 record. The Judges have won the last four matches.
 
Brandeis has a ranked singles player in Sabrina Ross-Neergaard, ranked 13th in the region. Ross-Neergaard is 13-7 overall and 9-4 in dual matches at first singles. In doubles, the 13th-ranked pair of Ross-Neergaard and Olivia Leavitt are 9-4 in dual matches and 10-10 overall.
 
The last time these two teams met was in 2014 in the Nor'easter Bowl. Skidmore, then ranked 19th, defeated No. 24 Brandeis 5-4 on April 5.
