SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.— For the first time in Liberty League history the field hockey championship goes through the University of Rochester. The top-seed Yellowjackets will host second seed Skidmore College at 1 p.m. Saturday.

The defending champion Thoroughbreds are 14-6 after a 2-1 overtime semifinal win against Vassar on Wednesday. Rochester is 16-3 after winning its ninth straight, 4-0 over William Smith in the other semifinal.

The Yellowjackets won the regular-season match-up 1-0 in a shootout (3-2) on Oct. 20 in Rochester.

The championship will be a repeat of the 2016 title game won by Skidmore 2-1 at Wagner Park. Skidmore has won nine overall championships and seven of the last nine Liberty League crowns.

Rochester will be playing in its third straight championship game and fourth overall.

Gabby Hyman leads the Thoroughbreds in scoring with 12 goals and one assist for 25 points.

Elizabeth Coughlin and
Zoe McGuire have been solid in the cage. Coughlin is 8-3 in 12 games (10 starts) with an 0.88 goals against average and .824 save percentage, while McGuire is 6-3 in 13 games (10 starts) with a 1.88 GAA and 0.800 save percentage.

Claire Dickerson tops Rochester in scoring with 20 goals and two assists for 42 points. Olivia Denny (7-11—25) and Nancy Bansbach (7-4—18) are next in scoring.

Kiran Sundaram got the shutout against William Smith. She has an 8-1 record in 10 starts with a 0.89 GAA and .805 save percentage. Gabrielle Cantley is 7-2 in 11 games with a 0.70 GAA and .778 save percentage.

The winner will get the Liberty League automatic berth into the NCAA Division III Championship. The field will be announced Sunday night at 11:30 p.m. on NCAA.com.
