SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The Skidmore College field hockey team will host a top-10 battle at Wagner Park when No. 3 Middlebury comes to town at 4 p.m. on Wednesday.

The 7-1 Thoroughbreds, the 10th-ranked team in the latest National Field Hockey Coaches Association polls, are coming into the matchup after a strong 3-0 week, moving up three spots from the Sept. 20th polls. On Wednesday, the Thoroughbreds netted a season-high 10 goals, including nine in the first half, in a 10-0 shutout of Castleton. On Saturday, Kayla Rose nailed her shoot-out attempt after the second overtime, giving Skidmore a 2-1 victory over SUNY Cortland. On Sunday, the Thoroughbreds traveled to Rochester, N.Y., defeating Nazareth 6-1.

Midfielder Krista Lamoreaux and goalie Elizabeth Coughlin were recently honored by the Liberty League on Monday, when they were named to the honor roll, for the week ending Sept. 25. Lamoreaux was the only Thoroughbred to record a point in all three games, leading the team with an impressive four goals and four assists. She sits second in the league in points (22) and third behind teammate Gabby Hyman in goals (8). Hyman has scored 10 goals this season, and scored a hat trick recently against Nazareth.

Coughlin completed a 3-0 week in net, allowing just one goal in 186:04 of game time. She equaled a season-high with three saves in Skidmore's dramatic 2-1 shoot-out victory against Cortland. The sophomore is a perfect 6-0 this season, posting the second-lowest goals against average (0.37) and save percentage (.857) in the Liberty League.

SCOUTING #3 MIDDLEBURY (4-1)
The Panthers, the defending Division III National Champions, and currently the third-ranked team in the NFHCA polls, come into the matchup after a rollercoaster of a weekend in NESCAC play. In a repeat of last year's national championship game, Middlebury topped former No. 1 Bowdoin, 3-2 at home on Saturday, before falling to conference foe Hamilton 4-2 on Sunday.

Middlebury is led offensively by junior midfielder Annie Leonard. Leonard leads the Panthers in points (21), goals (9), and assists (2). Her 21 points currently leads the NESCAC. Senior Emily Miller has played every minute in goal for the Panthers this season, compiling a 4-1 record with a 1.67 goals against average.

LAST TIME OUT – On Sept. 30, 2015, The Thoroughbreds grabbed the early lead on a Hyman goal in the 20th minute, but couldn't hold on in a 2-1 loss to the eventual champions on the road. The last two contests have been decided by one goal each, both Middlebury victories.
