WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – MIT swept the doubles points and then secured two wins at singles in downing Skidmore 5-0 in a Second Round NCAA match played today on the campus of Williams College.

With the win MIT advances to tomorrow's regional final at noon against the winner of the Williams College vs. Wilkes University match to follow. MIT is now 6-5 all-time in NCAA Tournament play, while Skidmore falls to17-19 in NCAA Tournament contests.

Skidmore's four-match win streak was stopped by MIT and the Thoroughbreds' record for the year stands at 12-9, while MIT will take 13-7 record into tomorrow's match.

MIT opened today's Second Round NCAA match posting wins at number two and three doubles. The Engineers' number two tandem of Dora Tzeng and Kelly Zou defeated Skidmore's Brianna Greene and Caroline Finnegan 8-1. The Engineers' doubles duo of Wendi Kong and Krystal Lai topped the Thoroughbred team of Alexa Goldberg and Laura Swenson 8-2.

Court one doubles featured the tightest opening round encounter as MIT's Elysa Kohrs and Sonya Das opened up a 7-3 lead only to see Skidmore's number one pairing of Madie Benn and Michelle Fuca extend the match by winning the 12th game and narrowing the score to 7-5.
However, Kohrs and Das ended the Skidmore comeback bid winning 8-5, to give the Engineers a 3-0 lead in the match with singles next on the courts.

Dora Zeng put MIT on the brink of victory winning in straight sets over Skidmore's Brianna Greene, 6-1, 6-1 at two singles to up the Engineers' lead to 4-0.

The fifth and final match point was delivered by MIT number one singles player Elysa Kohrs who prevailed over Skidmore's Madie Benn 6-1, 6-1.
