SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.—The 19^th ranked Skidmore College women's tennis team came out on the right end of a tight 5-4 match with #30 New York University Sunday at the Saratoga YMCA.
 
The Thoroughbreds won two of three doubles matches and split singles for the 5-4 win.
 
Skidmore (8-5) got a win at number one doubles when Caroline Finnegan and Brianna Greene beat Carmen Lai and Vanessa Scott 9-8 (7-5).
 
Finnegan had a key three-set win at number three singles, 6-2, 5-7, 6-1 over Laila El Dessouki to clinch the win.

This was a very good win over a very talented NYU team.  We had some players out with illness so everyone was pretty much playing a spot they had never played before and the team responded with a ton of resolve and composure, which was great.  It was a great team win too as everyone contributed at least one point.  That what it takes to win a college match against a quality opponent.
