BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Skidmore College women's tennis team fell to Bowdoin, 7-2 in match play on Sunday morning to wrap up the fall semester.
The Thoroughbreds fall to 2-1 on the season, while Bowdoin notches its first victory.
Both of Skidmore's wins came in singles play.
Renee Karchere-Sun battled through a tough second set, but win the last two points in a 6-2, 6-3 victory at fifth singles over Bowdoin's Tasha Christ.
Ada Wiggins had an easier time in the second slot, defeating Bowdoin's Tess Trinka in straight sets 6-1, 6-2.
Bowdoin swept through the three doubles matches and took the first two singles matches to pick up the victory.
"This was another weekend of great match experience," said women's tennis head coach
Curt Speerschneider. "Between one player (
Michelle Fuca) travelling to Arizona, and the rest of the team travelling six hours to Maine, it was a physical and mental challenge. I thought we showed a lot of toughness against a lot of quality opponents all weekend. This team has a lot to look forward to in the spring."
The Thoroughbreds will return to action in the spring, travelling to Rensselaer on Feb. 19.
