ITHACA, N.Y.—The 16th-ranked Skidmore College women's tennis team will have a chance to secure its fifth-straight Liberty League title after cruising to a 5-0 semifinal win over RPI, Saturday morning at the Reis Tennis Center on the campus of Cornell University.
The Thoroughbreds, who extended their conference winning streak to 30 matches, improve to 12-8 on the season, while the Engineers end their season at 9-9.
Skidmore opened a 3-0 lead after doubles play and
Michelle Fuca and
Caroline Hobbs notched wins at number five and number six singles, respectively, to seal the win swept doubles play. The Thoroughbreds led in all four of the unfinished matches.
In doubles, Fuca paired with
Erica Meno for an 8-3 win at number three.
Zoe Valella and
Yumi Karlshoej were 8-2 winners at number one and
Brianna Greene and
Caroline Finnegan won 8-5 at number two. Fuca, Meno, Greene and Finnegan are all undefeated in Liberty League doubles this season.
Skidmore, which advanced to its ninth consecutive Liberty League championship match, will take on the winner of the Vassar/St. Lawrence match at 10 a.m. Sunday, May 3.
