SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.—The Skidmore College women's tennis team will be in search of its fifth-straight conference title when it opens play at the Liberty League Championships on Thursday.

The 16th-ranked Thoroughbreds will be the top seed in the Liberty League tournament after finishing the regular season a perfect 7-0. Skidmore has won 29 consecutive Liberty League matches dating back to the 2009-2010 season, and it dropped just six individual conference matches this season, going 57-6.

The Thoroughbreds have been in the championship match for the last eight seasons and have made eight consecutive and 18 overall NCAA Division III Championship Tournament appearances.

Skidmore has relied heavily on contributions from its freshman this season.

Brianna Greene Michelle Fuca,
Danielle Giannetti and
Erica Meno have all competed in crucial matches, combining for an overall singles conference record of 28-2 and a conference doubles record of 20-0.

The Thoroughbreds take on fourth seed Rensselaer in the opening round. The match will be the second between the two teams in as many weeks. Skidmore cruised to an 8-1 on April 19, sweeping doubles before winning the top five flights of singles.

In the other semifinal, preseason Liberty League favorite #22 Vassar takes on third seed St. Lawrence.
