GREENCASTLE, Ind.-- The 17th ranked Skidmore College women's tennis team opened play in the ITA Division III Indoor championships with an 8-1 loss to third ranked Washington University.

It was the first loss of the season for the 4-1 Thoroughbreds who will continue play on Saturday in the consolation bracket.

Erica Meno was the lone Skidmore winner with a 6-4, 4-6, 1-0 (10-3) win over Hanna Newstadt. Danielle Giannetti had a close loss at number three singles to Aly Coran, 6-3, 4-6, 1-0 (10-7).
