SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.—The 16th-ranked Skidmore College women's tennis team puts its 36-match Liberty League win streak on the line this weekend with home matches against Bard and RIT.
 
The Thoroughbreds opened conference play with two dominant 9-0 wins against RPI and Union, dropping just one of the 28 sets played. The team is also coming off a strong showing at the USTA/ITA Northeast Regionals, where Madie Benn and Michelle Fuca teamed up to win the doubles championship and earn a trip to the USTA/ITA Small College National Championships. Benn and Fuca were named the Liberty League Doubles Team of the Week for the consecutive week, Danielle Giannetti was named the Singles Performer of the Week and Zoe Chodak earned Rookie of the Week honors.
 
SCOUTING BARD
Bard fell to 0-5 on the season after a 6-3 loss to Plattsburgh on Saturday. Bella Martinez and Lily Zacharias each won their respective singles matches and teamed for a win at number three doubles against the Cardinals.
 
Martinez has won back-to-back matches at number four singles. Amelia Tiemann has also posted two wins, going 2-3 at number two.
 
SCOUTING RIT
RIT opened the season at the Mary Hosking Invitational at William Smith before competing at the USTA/ITA Northeast Regionals. Gianna Heaviland notched a win in the consolation round at regionals and paired with Taylor Thormahlen for a win in the doubles consolation.
 
The Tigers finished 4-10 overall and 2-4 in the Liberty League last season.
