Box Score SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. --Â The Skidmore College field hockey team cruised in its season opener, knocking off Castleton St., 12-0, Friday evening at Wagner Park.

Sam Skott tallied four goals,
Dani DeGregory scored a hat trick and added two assists and
Krista Lamoreaux produced five points with one goal and three assists for the Thoroughbreds (1-0).
Melanie Webb,
Sam Revera,
Jenn Hanks and
Seeley Fancher rounded out the scoring for Skidmore.

Skott put Skidmore in front early with two goals in the first 3:22, opening the scoring 31 seconds into the contest with a solo effort and jamming home a rebound for her second of the game. Skidmore piled on four more goals over the next 8:56 to pull away for good.

DeGregory and Lamoreaux both notched their first goals of the season before Skott completed her hat trick at 10:48. DeGregory put the game out of reach at 12:18, dribbling around the goalkeeper and slotting the ball into the empty net.

The Thoroughbreds added four more goals in the first half and two in the second half to seal the 12-0 win.Â

Skidmore outshot Castleton (0-1) 54-0 and owned a 16-0 advantage in penalty corners.Â
Amy Beck recorded her second career win in goal for the Thoroughbreds, while
Zoe McGuire made her first appearance, playing 6:52 in relief. Jess Galatioto and Meeghan Doris split time in goal for the Spartans. Galatioto turned away 15 shots in the first half, while Doris made 11 saves in the second half.
