CLINTON, N.Y. –
Erin Ohlenbusch scored her team-leading third goal of the season and the Skidmore College field hockey team generated a strong fourth-quarter push in a 3-1 non-league loss at Hamilton College on Tuesday evening at Goodfriend Field. Skidmore moves to 1-3.
- Hamilton (3-0), ranked 13th nationally, opened the scoring at 7:17 when Isabelle Nahon converted an assist from Alexis Glasofer. The Continentals doubled the lead just 2:57 into the second quarter on Alden Duserick's first goal of the season.
- Nicole Sylvestri kept the Thoroughbreds within striking distance through the first half, making eight saves over 30 minutes. Hamilton held a 14-4 advantage in shots over the opening two quarters.
- Lily Dreyfuss took over in goal to start the second half and stopped all five shots on goal she faced in a scoreless third quarter.
- Skidmore broke through at 48:06. After earning a penalty corner, Ella Costa set up Ohlenbusch for her third goal of the season to cut the deficit to 2-1. Ohlenbusch has scored 3 of Skidmore's 11 goals through four games. Costa leads the Liberty League in assists with four.
- Hamilton answered 59 seconds later when Nahon scored her second of the game to restore the two-goal margin.
- The Thoroughbreds put together their most productive offensive quarter in the fourth, outshooting Hamilton 7-5. Ohlenbusch had two late attempts stopped by defensive saves from Morgan Clarke in the final minute.
- Dreyfuss finished with nine saves in 30 minutes. Combined with Sylvestri's eight, Skidmore's goalkeepers made 17 saves on 20 Hamilton shots on goal. It was the team's second consecutive game with at least 17 goalkeeper saves after Dreyfuss' career-high 16 at Trinity on Sunday.
- Hamilton finished with a 26-11 advantage in shots and a 20-6 margin in shots on goal. The Continentals held a 10-7 edge in penalty corners.
