WELLESLEY, Mass. – The 19th-ranked Skidmore College women's tennis team added another win against nationally ranked opponent, knocking off #14 Trinity College in Sunday afternoon's third place match at the Nor'Easter Bowl at Brandeis University.
The Thoroughbreds (12-3) took a 3-0 lead after sweeping doubles play.
Lee Ford and Madelin Benn were 8-6 winners at number one,
Zoe Valella and
Rachel Plevinsky paired for an 8-5 win at number two and
Melissa Hirsch and
Yumi Karlshoej notched an 8-4 win at number three.
The Bantams (7-3) closed the gap, picking up three wins in singles, but Ford, Valella and Plevinsky all added individual wins, propelling Skidmore to the 6-3 win. Ford topped Morgan Feldamn 6-0, 6-2 at number two, Valella rallied for a three-set win over Elizabeth Gerber at number four and Plevinsky downed Taylor Wilkins 6-3, 6-1 at number six.
The Thoroughbreds host the College of New Jersey at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 12.
