ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, NY / TROY, NY – The Skidmore College women's tennis team split a pair of Liberty League road matches against Bard and RPI on Saturday.
The Thoroughbreds (4-8, 4-1 Liberty League) opened the day with a 6-1 victory over the Raptors (4-9, 0-5 Liberty League) before falling 5-2 to the Engineers (7-5, 5-0 Liberty League) to conclude the day.
GAME 1: Skidmore 6, Bard 1
- In doubles play, the Thoroughbreds secured the point after the first-year duo of Ginevra Muratori/Amelie Gonzalez defeated Bard's Paige Houghton/Catherine Chapel in a 6-0 sweep at first doubles.
- At second doubles, the Skidmore pairing of Maeve O'Brien-McKevitt/Ruth Wilson defeated Bard's Jesse Radzik/Patricia Santos, 6-1.
- The Thoroughbreds cruised in singles play, with Muratori and Gonzalez both winning in straight sets without conceding a game, 6-0, 6-0, at first and second singles.
- At third singles, sophomore Maggie English lost just one game in a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Bard's Santos.
- At fourth singles, Wilson earned a straight-set win, 6-2, 6-2, over Bard's Radzik.
- At fifth singles, O'Brien-McKevitt defeated Bard's Sienna Roveda, 6-1, 6-1.
- Bard's lone point came at sixth singles via forfeit.
GAME 2: RPI 5, Skidmore 2
- In doubles, Muratori/Gonzalez defeated RPI's Ridenour/Jaiswal at first doubles in a tightly contested 7-5 match.
- However, the Thoroughbreds dropped the doubles point after Lake/English fell at second doubles in a tiebreak, 7-6 (8-6), to RPI's Wheeler/Sarabosing, and O'Brien-McKevitt/Wilson lost to the Engineers' Muligi/Ceas, 6-3, at third doubles.
- In singles action, Muratori defeated RPI's Ridenour at first singles in a three-set thriller, 5-7, 6-4, 13-11.
- At second singles, Gonzalez earned the other point for Skidmore with a straight-set win over RPI's Muliyil, 6-1, 6-3.
