ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- The 14th-ranked Skidmore College women's tennis team cruised to an 8-1 win against the University of Rochester, Saturday afternoon at the Lyman Tennis Center.
The Thoroughbreds (14-3, 5-0 Liberty League) dropped only two sets in eight matches, sweeping doubles play and wininng five of six matches in singles.
Lee Ford and Madeline Benn were 8-1 winners at number one doubles,
Rachel Plevinsky and
Zoe Valella were 8-2 winners at number two and
Melissa Hirsch and
Yumi Karlshoej picked up an 8-0 win at number three doubles.
Ford, Valella and Plevinsky all notched individual wins at number one, number three and number four singles, respectively.
Robyn Baird was a 6-2, 6-1 winner at number five singles and
Caroline Hobbs rolled to a 6-0, 6-1 win at number six singles.
The Thoroughbreds compete at the Liberty League championships April 26-28 at St. Lawrence University.
