WINDSOR, Conn. - Erasing a 2-1 deficit after doubles play, the Skidmore women's team earned wins at first through fourth singles en route to a 5-2 NCAA second round victory over The College of New Jersey at Magic Lincer Tennis Academy in Windsor, Conn.

Improving to 13-8 on the season, the Thoroughbreds advance to tomorrow's round of 16 where they will face host Amherst, which breezed past Wilkes, 5-0, in the day's other regional semifinal. The Lions close out the season with a 16-2 overall mark.

Staking Skidmore to an early advantage, Alex Smith '15 and Rachel Plevinsky '14 dispatched of Jasmine Muniz-Cadorette '16 and Emma Allen '16 at second doubles, 8-2. The Lions Karisse Bendijo '13 and Allison Tierney '13 evened things up with an 8-6 decision over Nataly Mendoza '13 and Lee Ford '14 before TCNJ's Tara Criscuolo '14 and Alex Bologno '15 edged out a 9-8 (7-3) third doubles win over Melissa Hirsch '14 and Yumi Karlshoej '15.

Getting the Thoroughbreds back on track, Mendoza turned in a 6-2, 6-4 triumph over Bendijo at the top of the singles lineup before Smith ousted Allen, 6-1, 6-2 at fourth singles to put Skidmore back in front. Ford picked up a 6-4, 6-1 win over Tierney at second singles before Hirsh rallied from a 2-6 first set loss to Muiz-Cadorette, taking the next two frames by scores of 6-4 and 6-1 to clinch the match.

Skidmore junior Robyn Baird led Bologno, 6-3, 4-3 at the time of completion, while Plevinsky held a 6-2, 2-0 margin on Sarah Lippincott '15 when the match was suspended.
