Thoroughbreds advance to Nor’Easter Bowl championship

Wellesley, Mass. –The 20th ranked Skidmore College women's tennis team posted an impressive 6-3 win over #21 MIT in the semifinals of the Nor'Easter Bowl Tournament being played at Wellesley College and Brandeis University.

The Thoroughbreds face #1 ranked and #1 seed Amherst College in Sunday's championship match.

Skidmore's depth proved to be the difference with doubles wins at two and three, followed by singles win at three, four, five, and six.

Melissa Hirsch won a tight number three doubles match with Yumi Karlshoej, 8-5 and came back for a 6-2, 6-3 win at number three singles over  Candace Tam. Alex Smith, Robyn Baird, and Caroline Hobbs all won three-set matches. Hobbs came from behind to win her match 4-6, 6-2, 6-3 over Julia Hsu at number six singles.
