#21 Trinity edges #19 Skidmore, 5-4

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.— The Skidmore College women's tennis team lost a heartbreaker, 5-4 to Trinity College in a match-up of nationally ranked teams.
 
Skidmore (9-7) swept doubles to take a 3-0 lead, but lost five of six singles matches, to fall, 5-4.  The Thoroughbreds are ranked 19th nationally, two spots in front of the Bantams.
 
Lee Ford had a win at number two singles for the Thoroughbreds, beating Hillary Hoyt , 6-4, 6-2 at number two singles. She also combined with Nataly Mendoza for an 8-6 win at number one doubles. Melissa Hirsch and Caroline Hobbs both lost tight three-set matches.

1. Lee Ford/Nataly Mendoza defeated Melita Ferjanic/Hillary Hoyt 8-6
2. Alex Smith/Rachel Plevinsky defeated Morgan Feldman /Senzo Maphisa 8-3
3. Yumi Karlshoej/Melissa Hirsch defeated Regan Cherna /Elizabeth Gerber 9-8 (7-4)
 
Singles
1. Nataly Mendoza lost to Melita Ferjanic  6-3,6-4
2. Lee Ford defeated Hillary Hoyt 6-4,6-2
3. Melissa Hirsch lost to Morgan Feldman 3-6,6-4,6-1
4. Alex Smith lost Regan Cherna 6-0,6-1
5. Robyn Baird lost to Senzo Mattisa 6-3,6-2
