#16 Skidmore falls to #3 Williams

Saratoga Springs, N.Y.—The Skidmore College women's tennis team began spring break with a 9-0 loss to #3 Williams College, Saturday afternoon at the Wilton YMCA.

The Thoroughbreds (2-3) travel to the West Coast to take on UC Santa Cruz and Redlands.
Nataly Mendoza lost a  close 6-4, 6-3 decision at number one singles and 8-5 at number one doubles with Lee Ford.

“This was a very high level match,” said Skidmore coach Curt Speerschneider.  “ I don't think the scores indicate how much both teams fought for every point and how competitive it was.

"Williams is obviously very tough and comfortable in situations like that, evident of their five national titles.  We played well but just couldn't convert enough opportunities to gain much momentum, which is crucial against a team like that.  This is definitely an experience match that will benefit us in some very important matches next week in California and for the rest of the season."
