Skidmore remains unbeaten with OT win at Oneonta

Box Score Oneonta, N.Y.-- All-American Kelly Blackhurst took care of business with an overtime goal in the 89th minute. To lead the sixth ranked Skidmore College field hockey team to 3-2 win over Oneonta. 
 
Blackhurst received a drop pass from Ceilidh MacNeill and blasted a shot from the top of the circle that found the back of the goal.
 
The Liberty League's top player also had the game-tying goal in the 51st minute when she took matters into her own hands and dribbled around a couple of defenders before getting off a reverse stick shot that trickled to the back of the goal.
 
Oneonta (3-2) scored the first two goals of the game despite only four shots on goal in the first half of play. 
 
Skidmore continued to battle over the last five minutes of the opening half and scored its first goal after time had expired in the half.  Junior Annie Weis scored on a penalty corner off an assist from MacNeill to cut the halftime lead to one goal.
 
Skidmore (4-0) outshot the Red Dragons 26-15 in the game and Thoroughbreds goalie, Haley McDougall, made nine stops.
  
 "The Thoroughbreds showed tremendous fight today, coming back from a 2-0 deficit to win the overtime thriller 3-2" said coach Beth Hallenbeck. "Kelly Blackhurst was clutch under pressure up front, and Haley McDougall was stellar in net, turning back several excellent chances for Oneonta. Hilary Cranston was rock solid again in the midfield, and added key defensive help again and again. Ceilidh MacNeill, Pauline Searles and Molly Gile were work horses today, helping with the midfield transition. Sam Revera put in an outstanding performance on defense, playing with heart and determination. The T-breds battled well in the heat against an excellent opponent, and earned the victory as a team."
