Ithaca, N.Y. - For the second straight day, the Skidmore College women's tennis team earned a 9-0 victory as they defeated Ithaca to complete the weekend sweep.

The Thoroughbreds (24th nationally, 9th northeast region) improve to 4-0 while the Bombers (19th northeast region) fall to 9-3.

Melissa Hirsch was a 6-2, 6-3 winner at number one singles, while Tory Engros won 6-3, 6-0 at number two singles and Nataly Mendoza eanred a 6-0, 6-1 win at number three singles.  At number four singles, Lee Ford earned a 6-0, 6-1 win as Robyn Baird won 6-1, 6-1 at number five singles and Sam Kogan was a 6-1, 6-0 winner at number six singles.

In doubles action, Ford and Mendoza teamed up for an 8-3 at number one, while Engros and Hirsch won 8-1 at number two doubles and at number three doubles, Baird and Alex Smith earned an 8-3 victory.

"Good start for the team" said head coach Curt Speerschneider.  "It's always nice to get the first few matches under our belt to get over the nerves.  Our main goal was to come in and work hard for every match.  They did and it paid off with a couple of solid 9-0 wins."

Skidmore returns to action on March 12, when they take on Wayne State in Orlando, Fla.
