Bessey (Montclair, NJ) earned the game's No. 1 star by posting double-digit saves in each of the first three periods (12-10-14) and adding four more stops in the five minute overtime session.  The Vikings (11-7-2 overall; 7-7-1 ECAC East) opened the scoring when sophomore forward Mike Genovese (Hingham, MA) scored his seventh goal of the year, an unassisted strike, at 3:15 of the first period.

Skidmore (10-9-1 overall; 6-8-1 ECAC East) evened the score at 12:30 when freshman forward Sasha Thomas (Gatineau, Quebec) netted his fourth goal of the season with junior forward Anthony Ferri (Jersey City, NJ) recording his first of two helpers.

The teams traded second period goals with Ferri and freshman defenseman Nick Dupuis (Holyoke, MA) setting up sophomore forward Hunter Thayer (Shelburne, VT) for the power play marker at 9:12 of the middle frame. It was Thayer's eighth goal of the 2008-09 campaign,

The Vikings would score the game's final goal at 15:52 of the second period when sophomore center and ECAC East scoring leader Justin Fox (Whitby, Ontario) scored his 16th lamplighter of the year.  Senior goaltender Ryan Hatch (Medway, MA), who finished the contest with 20 saves, was credited with an assist on the Fox goal.
