Saratoga Springs, N.Y. -- The Skidmore College women's tennis team opened up the 2009 spring season with a 7-0 shutout over New York University Saturday morning.
Sophomore
Danika Robison (South Burlington, Vt.) led the Thoroughbreds with victories at number singles and number one doubles. She defeated NYU's Elizabeth Stachtiarus, 5-7, 6-3 (10-8) in a touch top match at number one singles, and combined with junior
Laura Attley (Chatham, N.J.) to win 8-3 at number one doubles.
Skidmore's
Rachel Loeb (Greenwood Village, Colo.) posted a 6-2, 6-1 win over Stephanie Tu at number two singles and teamed with
Dani Fancher (St. Louis, Mo.) to beat Tu and Lena Krups 8-0 at number two doubles.
The Thoroughbreds will host The College of New Jersey Sunday starting at 10 a.m.
