Skidmore earns NCAA Field Hockey bye

Saratoga Springs, N.Y.  The Skidmore College field hockey team will open NCAA Division III Championship play on Saturday after receiving a first round bye in the 24-team event.

The Thoroughbreds will play the winner of Wednesday's Amherst College-Husson College game in a second-round match-up at Tufts University at 2 p.m.  Tufts will play the winner of Nichols and MIT at 11 a.m.  The regional final is set for Sunday at 1 p.m.

The regional winners advance will advance to the semifinals and finals Saturday and Sunday, November 21 and 22, at Mount Holyoke Turf Field on the campus of Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, Massachusetts.  Semifinals will be played at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 21, with the championship game being played Sunday, November 22, at 1 p.m.

Skidmore is 16-3 and making its third straight and ninth overall NCAA tournament appearance.
