SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. — The Skidmore College women's tennis team finished a tough match with a 6-3 victory over Wellesley on Saturday afternoon.

The Thoroughbreds are 4-1 overall and 4-0 in Liberty League play.

The doubles teams won two out of three matches. Sofia Carlsson and Lily Feldman led the way with an 8-2 win in doubles. Risa Fukushige and Maa Lal won 8-4.

Fukushige also led with a win in singles, 6-4, 6-1. Lal (7-5, 6-2), Feldman (6-2, 6-4), and Chanhtel Thongphok (0-6, 6-4, 11-9) also won in singles.

"Wellesley played us very tough today." said coach Curt Speerschneider, "We did a good job of overcoming some slow starts and a lot of push by our opponents. We just need to keep trusting our abilities. Each week gets a bit tougher and we're excited for some good opportunities coming up next week and into spring break."

Skidmore faces Williams College at home next on March 7 at 1 p.m.
