TROY, N.Y.—The Liberty League recognized 49 Skidmore athletes who have made the fall sport All-Academic Teams.  Liberty League commissioner Tracy King has announced the team Nov. 16. The 49 athletes is a fall record for Skidmore, eight higher the previous mark of 41 achieved in 2015.

Overall there were 740 fall sport student-athletes who qualified for the league's All-Academic Teams in their respective sports, marking the highest total for fall sports since the league began recognizing outstanding academic achievement.

The Liberty League's fall championship sports include men's and women's cross country, field hockey, football, men's and women's soccer and women's volleyball. To be recognized as a member of the All-Academic team a student-athlete must be a sophomore or higher in class standing and enrolled full-time with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.30. The Liberty League elevated the GPA requirement from 3.20 to 3.30 in 2016-17 to follow the established standard for eligibility for CoSIDA Academic All-America awards. The previous high for fall sports was 630 student-athletes, achieved during the 2019 season.

"Our student-athletes have always taken great pride in their academic pursuits," said King. "This is obviously a challenging time for our fall sport student-athletes. Not only have many had to adjust to online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic, but their traditional team activities have been altered as well. Despite the challenges that they've faced, they have continued to excel academically. I'm proud of their resilience and hard work."
