Risa Fukushige and rookie
Chanhtel Thongphok advanced to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Northeast Regional doubles final, leading the Skidmore College women's tennis team in day two action at William Smith College Sunday afternoon.
Fukushige and Thongphok cruised past Lauren Holtzman and Kat Roberts of Hamilton 8-1 in the quarterfinal. The pair then outlasted the NYU pair of Judy Kam and Coco Kulle in the semifinal, 8-6. They will face another NYU pair, Anastasiia Balyk and Anna Maria Buraya, in the final on Monday.
In singles,
Lily Feldman and
Dea Koiava each won a match, finishing up in the quarterfinals. Feldman defeated Ithaca's Brianna Ruback in straight sets, 6-0, 6-1, while Koiava defeated Alex Mednikova of RPI, 7-5, 6-4.
Audrey SooHoo and
Sofia Carlsson each won a pair of consolation matches. SooHoo picked up a pair of 6-2 wins over Laura Suarez of TCNJ and Katelyn Nguyen of William Smith. Carlsson defeated Hamilton's Sarah Bargamian 6-1, then swept Suarez by a 6-0 score.
