No. 17 Skidmore treks to Maine for NCAA Tournament Regional

Thoroughbreds receives opening-round bye, will face TCNJ in second round Friday at Bowdoin College

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The Skidmore College men's tennis team returns to the NCAA Division III Tournament and will head to Brunswick, Maine for the second round on Friday, May 10. Skidmore, Liberty League Champions, will take on The College of New Jersey.
 
Bowdoin earned a Pool "C" bid and will host the regional pod. Skidmore (15-5) will open play in the second round against TCNJ (15-3) on Friday, held at the Pickard Tennis Courts, weather permitting. Bowdoin (16-4) will face the winner of Thursday's opening round match between Eastern Nazarene (16-7) and Yeshiva (14-7) on Friday. The Friday winners will meet for the regional crown on Saturday, May 11.
 
43 teams will play a single-elimination tournament with the first, second and third rounds played at regional sites, Friday through Sunday, May 10-12, or Thursday through Saturday, May 9-11. Kalamazoo College will host the team championships finals, which will be held May 20-22 at Stowe Stadium in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Student-athletes selected to the individual championships will be announced Wednesday, May 8.
 
Skidmore, ranked 17th in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division III rankings, earned its 11th NCAA Tournament berth in 12 seasons on Sunday, defeating RPI 5-0 in the Liberty League Championship match. TCNJ earned a Pool "B" bid into the tournament, as the NJAC does not hold an automatic bid.
