SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The Skidmore College men's tennis team kick off its 2026-27 season this weekend when it travels to the Middlebury Invitational for a two-day tournament in Vermont.
 
The Thoroughbreds will be on title defense after capturing their first Liberty League championship since 2021.
 
THE SCHEDULE AHEAD
After Middlebury, Skidmore will again serve as the host institution for the ITA Regionals Sept. 25-27. The Thoroughbreds round out the fall portion of the schedule two weeks later when they host the Skidmore Open both at the McCaffery-Wagman Tennis and Wellness Center.
 
The season picks up again in the spring with dual matches leading to the Liberty League Tournament in May. Skidmore will have home league matches in the spring against RPI, Bard, Vassar, and St. Lawrence. The full spring schedule will be released shortly.
 
LIBERTY LEAGUE TOURNAMENT
Reis Tennis Center at Cornell University in Ithaca will again serve as host for the championship tournament May 7-9. Skidmore will be seeking its 17^th conference title.
 
RETURNING
Skidmore has seven returners from last year's championship team. Of them, three earned All-Liberty League honors a year ago. Ege Topbas was named the Liberty League Rookie of the Year in addition to his second team singles nod. Yuval Goodman was voted to the All-Liberty League First Team Singles, while Fletcher King was a member of an all-conference second team doubles duo.
 
The coaching staff of head coach AJ Nelson and assistant John Chiaramonte was named the Liberty League Coaching Staff of the Year.
 
INCOMING
There are two new student-athletes, both first-years, on the 2026-27 roster.
 
PROGRAM HISTORY
Skidmore has won 16 conference titles following its most recent last spring. The Thoroughbreds have been crowned champions in 1999, 2001, 2003, 2005-06, 2008-09, 2011-12, 2013-17, 2019, 2021, and 2026. Skidmore has produced 29 All-Americans and have made it to at least the conference semifinal match in each of the 22 championship tournaments played since 2004.
