Box Score ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Skidmore College men's tennis team earned its second sweep in as many days, getting past RIT 9-0, in Liberty League action at the Midtown Athletic Club Sunday afternoon.
Skidmore (2-1, 2-0 Liberty League), ranked 28
th in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) national rankings, wins its second straight game and has won 32 consecutive Liberty League regular season matches. RIT falls to 3-2, dropping its Liberty League opener.
Jason Keye and
Jack McClaren began things with a dominant 8-0 sweep of RIT's Gabriel van Kessel and Jake Wolicki at No. 3.
Travis Leaf and
Connor Biernat prevailed late, defeating Nick Lim and Pat Matthews 8-6 at No. 2.
JT Wynne and
Suraj Mahtani had an easier time at No. 1, defeating Brennan Ball and Jacob Meyerson 8-4.
Skidmore swept through singles, winning each match in straight sets. Biernat was near perfect in a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Lim at No. 5. Leaf was almost as good at No. 3, getting by Matthews 6-2, 6-0. Wynne won again at the top spot, defeating Ball 6-4 6-4. McClaren, Mahtani, and Tristian Thiebaut also earned victories to complete the sweep.
Skidmore returns home to host NYU on Saturday, March 2 at noon.
