FINAL RESULTS
POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – The No. 24 Skidmore College men's tennis team opened up the spring season with a 6-3 victory against Vassar in Liberty League action, held at the Walker Fieldhouse Saturday afternoon.
The Thoroughbreds (3-0, 3-0 Liberty League) remain perfect in dual action on the season. Vassar falls to 4-2 overall, dropping its first league game of the season (3-1).
Skidmore won two of three doubles matches to hold the advantage heading into singles play.
Jack McClaren and
Jason Keye got Skidmore on the board with an 8-3 victory against Vassar's David Gandham and Dom Demeterfi in second doubles. After the Brewers tied things up at 1,
Steven Koulouris and
Travis Leaf broke the tie, narrowly defeating Adam Krueger and Jeremy Auh by a 9-7 score at the top slot.
In singles action, Keye powered to a 6-2, 6-2 victory at the fifth spot to give the Thoroughbreds a 3-1 lead. Koulouris had a strong performance in a 6-3, 6-4 victory against Krueger at the top spot, and
Ted Berkowitz clinched the victory for Skidmore at fourth singles with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Jamie Anderson.
Kevin Ha also picked up a victory, needing three sets to defeat Nicolas Demaria 7-5, 4-6, 10-5.
The Thoroughbreds will next host No. 27 NYU at the Wenger Courts on March 3 at 11 a.m.
