FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The 22nd-ranked Skidmore College women's tennis team wrapped up play this weekend at the UMW Blue/Grey Classic on Saturday and Sunday. The Thoroughbreds dropped a close 5-4 match to #17 Trinity (TX) on Saturday, and a 7-2 decision to #16 Washington and Lee on Sunday.

Skidmore's record now stands at 6-5.

In Saturday's match against Trinity, the team of Ada Wiggins and Brianna Greene picked up Skidmore's lone victory in doubles, defeating Trinity's Liza Southwick and Mary Kaffen by a narrow 9-8 score. In singles action, Skidmore won the last three matches for the 5-4 score. Wiggins picked up a victory at #1, defeating Southwick in three sets, 2-6, 7-6, 7-6. Danielle Giannetti also took her singles opponent to three sets, defeating Kaffen 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 at #5. Greene had an easier time in her sixth singles match, defeating Andrea De Leon 6-4, 6-3.
In Sunday's match against Washington and Lee, Madie Benn and Michelle Fuca earned a victory at #1, defeating Washington and Lee's Brooke Donnelly and Tessa Hill 8-7. Giannetti finished a perfect 3-0 over the weekend in singles action with a 6-4, 7-6 straight set victory over Hannah Archer at #4.
The Thoroughbreds will return to Liberty League play, heading north to face St. Lawrence on April 2 at 2 p.m.
