WILTON, N.Y. – The No. 24 Skidmore College men's tennis team wrapped up dual action for the fall season, defeating RIT 9-0 in league action at the Wilton YMCA Sunday morning.
 
Skidmore improves to 2-0, with both victories coming against league opponents. RIT falls to 1-2 overall and falls in its conference opener.
 
Skidmore dominated in doubles, with all three pairs pulling away from the Tigers late. Travis Leaf and JT Wynne defeated Chandler Libby and Jared Ingoglia, 8-3 in the first slot, while Jason Keye and Jack McClaren picked up the 8-2 victory over Ben Lynaugh and Jacob Meyerson. Rookies Suraj Mahtani and Ben Maffa won their first collegiate match as a pair, defeating Patrick Mathews and Nick Lim 8-3.
 
In singles, Wynne faced early trouble against Libby, as the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Northeast Regional singles champ found himself down a set. Wynne rallied, winning the second set handily and eventually defeating Libby 3-6, 6-2, 10-6. McClaren, Ted Berkowitz, Kevin Ha, Yuqi Wang, and Juan Carlos de Lasa all won their matches in straight sets to complete the shutout.
 
JT Wynne (singles, doubles) and Steven Koulouris (doubles) will represent the Thoroughbreds at the ITA Oracle Cup, at the Rome Tennis Center at Berry College in Rome, Ga. on Oct. 11-15. The rest of the Thoroughbreds will return to action on Feb. 17, 2018, taking on Vassar in Poughkeepsie.
