Men's Lacrosse Game Preview - at Clarkson

 SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.—The Skidmore College men's lacrosse team will look to stay in the playoff hunt this weekend in a conference clash at Clarkson.

SCOUTING THE THOROUGHBREDS (3-6, 1-2 Liberty League): In its last game, Skidmore scored 12 unanswered goals against Castleton en route to a 14-3 rout. Junior midfielder Kevin Mulvey scored a season-high five goals, while freshman attackman Cody Legeza had a career-high four points with a goal and three assists. Freshman midfielder Ryan Warnock gave the team a huge boost from the face-off X, winning 13 of 17 draws, while also collecting a game-high six groundballs.
 
The Spartans were just 11-20 on clearing attempts and the Thoroughbreds had a 38-22 advantage in groundballs. Skidmore also had a big night on special teams, scoring a man-down goal, while going 3-4 with the extra man.
 
Mulvey has ignited the offense the last three games, posting 10 goals. Halloran has continued to shine in his rookie season and is on a five-game point streak, producing six goals and four assists in that stretch. Warnock has also been a major contributor this season, ranking sixth in the league in groundballs per game (4.09). 
 

SCOUTING THE GOLDEN KNIGHTS (4-5, 1-2 Liberty League): Clarkson was knocked off 13-6 by #12 Union its last time out. Senior midfielder Matthew Gold netted two goals, senior attackman Corey Herrington contributed a goal and an assist and goalkeeper Nick Strandholm made 16 saves. The Golden Knights were 0-7 with the extra man, while the Dutchmen converted on two of four extra man opportunities.
 
Strandholm has made double-digit saves in each of the last five games, including a season-high 21 against #2 RIT. He is averaging 10.44 saves per contest and ranks second in the conference with a 7.92 goals against average. Sophomore midfielder Ryan St. Croix leads the team with 18 goals and 21 points. Gold is second with 11 goals and 18 points and Herrington is third with 15 points, including a team-high eight assists. Senior faceoff specialist Dylan Broomfield is second in the league in groundballs per game (5.00).
