Skidmore-Cortland BoxManhattanville-Potsdam BoxSARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.—SUNY Cortland outscored Skidmore 3-2 in the third period on the way to a 4-2 win and berth in the Skidmore Invitational championship game, Saturday at the Saratoga Springs City Rink.

The Red Dragons will play Manhattanville in the championship game. The Valiants beat SUNY Potsdam 4-2 in the other semifinal. Skidmore and Potsdam play at 1 p.m, followed by the 4 p.m. championship game.

Cortland (3-3-2) went up 1-0 in the first, when Casie Garrison scored in traffic off a rebound of Tommy Nolan's shot at 12:47. Andrew Gleason had the second assist.

After a scoreless second period, Sam Pinsler made it 2-0 from Dray Zack and Dan Briderick at 13:22 of the third.
Marc Cibelli got Skidmore (2-6) on the board moments later from
Ondrej Krajnak and
Luke Alletzhauser at 15:29.Â

The Thoroughbreds pulled goalie
Jack McDonald with just under three minutes to play, but Broderick found the empty net for a 3-1 lead at 18:28. Skidmore got back to within one with
Connor Pelkey's fourth goal of the season at 19:04 from
Anthony Bird and
Marc Cibelli. Cortland responded with an empty net goal from Darren McCormick at 19:24 for the 4-2 final.

Skidmore outshot the Red Dragons 46-33. McDonald finished with 29 saves. Cortland's Drew Weigman stayed busy with 44 saves.

In the other semifinal, Manhattanville (6-2) handed Potsdam (6-2) its second straight loss after a 6-0 start.

The Valiants built a 3-1 lead after two periods on goals by Charlie Ryde, Matt Coleman, and Matt Lippa.  Jeff Beck pushed the lead to 4-1 at 10:50 of the third.

Jake Rivera and Dylan Vander Esch scored for the Bears.

Manhattanville had a 28-27 edge in shots. Tyler Feaver moved to 3-0 with 25 saves, including 12 in the third period. Nate Skidmore stopped 24 shots for Potsdam.
