SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.—The 24th-ranked Skidmore College men's tennis teams opens Liberty League play Sunday against Bard.
The Thoroughbreds are coming off a strong showing at last weekend's USTA/ITA Northeast Regional Championships. Reigning Liberty League Player of the Year
Kai Yuen Leung captured the singles title, knocking off top seed Matthew Heinrich of Stevens in the championship match. He also teamed with
Nick Tong to win the doubles championship in a three-set thriller.
Skidmore has won 13 consecutive Liberty League matches.
SCOUTING BARD
Bard defeated Mount Saint Mary, 7-2, after falling to Union in its opening match of the season. The Raptors also competed at the USTA/ITA Northeast Regionals, where sophomore Keillor Mose became just the second Bard player to win a regionals singles match. Mose and Ted Laport were topped by Leung and Tong in the doubles bracket.
The Raptors, who have not won a conference match since joining the Liberty League in 2011, finished 5-9 overall and 0-7 in conference play last season.
