Skidmore takes down Bard 18-1

Box Score SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.—The Skidmore College lacrosse team downed Bard College, 18-1 in a non-league game Sunday afternoon at Wachenheim Field.
 
The Thoroughbreds have won two games in three days to go to 3-8.  The Raptors are 4-4.
 
Quinn Hawkins and Josh Trachtenberg had four goals and an assist each to lead a balanced Skidmore attack that saw 10 players scoring goals.
 
The Thoroughbreds scored nine seconds into the game and never looked back. Brock Bakewell took the opening faceoff in for his fourth goal of the game. Connor Hunter made it 2-0 at 9:24 with his first goal of the season.   Bard got on the board at 5:31 of the first on Troy Ludtka's first goal of the season from George Goceljak. That would be it for the Raptors. Skidmore scored four goals over the final 3:27 of the quarter to take a 6-1 lead at the first break.
 
The Thoroughbreds added five goals in the second and third quarters and two in the fourth for the 18-1 final.
 
Skidmore's Kevin Mulvey added two goals and six assists and Jack Metzler added two goals. Nate Masson, Seth Berger, Sean Fosse, and defenseman Sam Christiansen all scored solo goals.  Christiansen also had seven ground balls and two caused turnovers.
 
Taylor Best went 9-10 on faceoffs, while Dylan Pailes-Friedman went 10-12.  Clark Demos had three ground balls and two caused turnovers.
 
Matt Diaco had four saves over the first 43:57, while Bennett Beutel did not have to make  a save over the final 16:03.
 
Skidmore outshot Bard 44-12 and had a 36-21 ground ball advantage.
 
The Thoroughbreds host Clarkson on April 12 at 2 p.m.
