Box Score SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.-- SUNY Potsdam scored the game's final five goals on the way to an 8-7 double overtime men's lacrosse win over Skidmore, Saturday at Wachenheim Field.

The Thoroughbreds are 0-2, while the Bears start 1-0.

Jon Woodworth scored the game winner for Potsdam with 2:38 to play in the second overtime. He slashed through the Thoroughbred defense and found the top right corner for his second goal of the game.

Skidmore jumped out to a 3-2 first period lead on a pair of goals by
Quinn Hawkins and a solo goal by
Kevin Mulvey.

The Thoroughbreds came out strong in the second, taking a 5-2 lead behind another Hawkins goal and a man-up marker from
Seth Berger with a Hawkins assist. Potsdam's Derek Frost got one back at 11:08 to cut it to 5-3. Skidmore closed with a pair of goals. Mulvey scored his second of the game at 4:57 and Hawkins nailed his fourth goal at 2:45, to make it 7-3 at the break.

Potsdam scored the lone goal of the third quarter, when Ed Doherty scored his first of the season at the 2:51 mark.

The Bears continued to battle back in the fourth, cutting the lead to one, 7-6 on goals by Frost and Woodworth. Potsdam then took advantage of a late man-up opportunity to tie the game 7-7 on a Frost goal with :42 to play.

The teams traded chances in the first overtime, with Thoroughbred goalie
Matt Diaco making two big saves and Bear goalie Ryan Duffy stopping a shot during a Skidmore man-up.

Taylor Best won the second overtime faceoff for the Skidmore, but Potsdam forced a turnover and controlled the ball, calling a time out to set-up Woodworth's game winner.

Hawkins finished with four goals and one assists, while Mulvey totaled two goals and two assists.
Seth Berger had a goal and an assist. Best won six of eight faceoffs.
Sam Christiansen and
Brock Bakewell had five ground balls each, with Bakewell forcing three turnovers.

Frost led Potsdam with three goals. Ryan McConnell had seven ground balls and three caused turnovers.

Potsdam had a slight 32-29 edge in shots. Diaco finished with eight saves, while Duffy had 14.
