POTSDAM, N.Y.—The Skidmore College hockey team closed out its nonconference schedule with a 3-2 road loss at Potsdam State, Saturday night.
The loss evens leaves the Thoroughbreds all even at 6-6-4. The Bears are 6-8.
Potsdam built a 3-0 lead before Skidmore got on the board at 18:54 of the third period.
Tony Giacin scored his sixth of the season from
David Limoges on a 5-on-3 power play. The Thoroughbreds made it interesting seconds later when
Brad Schuler cut it to 3-2 with a power-play goal from
Nick Mannarino and
Anders Gundersen at 19:41. The Bears withstood the final pressure for the 3-2 win.
Jack McDonald stopped 27 shots over the first 29:54 for Skidmore.
Ben Freiberg closed out the game with 18 saves. Potsdam had a 48-20 shot advantage.
The Thoroughbreds return to ECAC East play Jan. 17 at Southern Maine.
