POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y.-- The Skidmore College men's tennis team moved closer to a third straight Liberty League championship with a 5-2 win over St. Lawrence, Sunday at Vassar College.
The 27th ranked Thoroughbreds are 11-7 and will face the winner of the Vassar vs. Rensselaer semifinal in Monday's championship match at 10 a.m.
Skidmore came from behind for the win, dropping two doubles matches to go into singles down 2-1.
The Thoroughbreds then took over, winning at numbers 1, 2, 5 and 6 to clinch the match.
Jimmy Sherpa won 6-1, 6-3 at number one singles over Mike Hayden.
Miles Ransom was a 6-0, 6-3 winner at number two singles.
Jonah Epstein won easily at number five, 6-0, 6-2 and Kit Green-Sanderson posted a 6-1, 6-0 win at number six.
